TIRUCHI: The Tamil Nadu Kootturavu Oozhiyar Sammelanam affiliated to the CITU urged the state government to remove the anomalies in the pay scales of the fair price shop employees. A resolution was adopted at a meeting of the Sammelanam here on Sunday. The meeting demanded the government to provide salary to the fair price shop employees on par with the state government servants. The resolution said the non provision of same pay for equal work, benefits on par with the state government employees was a big disappointment, the resolution added. All the fair price shop employees should be given Rs. 2,000 as special allowance. Those who have completed ten years of service should be given selection grade pay and those who have put in 20 years service, special grade pay. To press these demands, the members of the Sammelanam will observe fast in all district headquarters on February 5. P. M. Kumar, state president of the Sammelanam presided over the meeting.
