BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Monday directed the State Government to computerise and digitise all land revenue records in the State. Justice D.V. Shylendra Kumar passed the order on a petition by Lingappa who had sought duplicate records of his land holding after the authorities told him that the original records of his land in Bangalore South were lost. Mr. Lingappa said he needed the original records if he had to appeal against an order of the tahsildar relating to his land. On an earlier occasion, the High Court had directed the Bangalore South office of the Revenue Department to ensure that all records are digitised. When the case came up on Monday, senior counsel Pramila Nesargi urged the court to direct the Revenue authorities to ensure that the original records of the land and the order passed was handed over to her client. She said she had been asking for the records, but to no avail. Principal Secretary V. Madhu, who was present in court, said the Revenue Department had already taken up a scheme to digitise all revenue records in the State. Notice A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice J.S. Khehar and Justice A.S. Pacchapure on Monday ordered issue of notices to the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on a petition by a resident of Bangalore. The petitioner, Shivanand, had urged the court to direct the BBMP to take action against officials found guilty of the computer scam.
