Students bag awards at Red Cross camp

HYDERABAD: Vamakshi Vidyaniketan High School's students participated in the inter-State Junior Red Cross camp held at Kurukshetra in Haryana and bagged five awards.

The camp started on December 12 and continued till December 18, and had participation from 18 States.

Eleven students

Eleven students participated from Vamakshi Vidyaniketan and achieved fourth position for the State, a press note informed.

The five awards were for the best counsellor, best co-ordinated team, consolation prize in quiz, best team in first-aid, and best team for keeping up the culture of the country, the note said.

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan

Mathematical legend Srinivasa Ramanujan's 124th birthday was celebrated by the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Public School, Jubilee Hills on December 22, when students participated in various mathematical activities.

Students demonstrated addition and subtraction, types of angles, and pairs of lines through dance and postures in Bharatanatyam. They also showcased lines, line segments and polygons through gymnastics, and highlighted that geometry was discovered and not invented, by successfully correlating mathematics with nature. Role plays on ‘Symmetry in Nature', a skit on the importance of mathematics, Kuchipudi dance to explain arithmetic progression, and a quiz marked the day. There was also a display-board competition among classes.

Saritha Learnium School

Saritha Learnium School bagged a second prize in a Science Olympiad recently conducted at Mount Mercy School, Toli Chowki, a press release informed.

Two students Ravi Teja and Ravi Prakash won the prize of Rs.2,000 for their science project.

The school also conducted a kite-making workshop for its students during Sankranti festival.

Maharishi Vidya Mandir

The city-based Maharishi Vidya Mandir was adjudged the best secondary school among all the schools under the same group, a press release from the school informed.

The award was presented to the principal Vasanthy Parasuraman at the celebration of Gyan Yug Diwas on January 12 in Karondi near Jabalpur, the note said.

The day was celebrated in commemoration of the birthday of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
