Arrested for selling liquor without permit

Tirupur: The police arrested as many as 52 persons for their alleged involvement in the sale of liqour without any permit, during raids conducted across the district on Sunday.
They were arrested from Avinashi, Komaralingam, Tirupur city, Avinashipalayam, Cheyur, Perumanallur, Palladam, Anupparpalayam, Udumalpet, Madathukulam, Kangeyam and Dharapuram.
Police sources said the accused were found selling brandy, rum and whisky at tea stalls, restaurants and on pavements near cinemas.
The Prohibition Enforcement Officials and local police personnel took part in the raid.
Cases solved
The Tirupur South Police claimed to have solved multiple vehicle lifting cases which took place in the city this month with the arrest of three persons on Sunday.
The arrested were K.Kalidass, M.Meeramoideen, and S.Nagaraj.
A total of four motorcycles were recovered from them. Police said the accused were involved in the cases registered on January 6, 7, 10 and 13.
