Student dies after falling into sump

HYDERABAD: A student died after falling into a sump at the government hostel for Backward Classes in Shivarampally of Rajendranagar on Tuesday.
Vamshi, 12, a second standard student of the adjacent government school, was trying to collect water from the sump around 3.30 p.m. when he accidentally slipped inside, the Rajendranagar Inspector, K. Rambhoopal Rao, said.
Too late
“The boy drowned in the over 10 foot deep sump. Though other students of the hostel were there, it was too late by the time they alerted hostel authorities,” the police said.Vamshi was from Surangal village of Moinabad. His father, Mahender, works as watchman at the Social Welfare Hostel in Moinabad.
