Thrissur: An elephant belonging to the Guruvayur Devaswom died on Monday night. The 30-year-old elephant, Unnikrishna, was ailing for some time. The elephant was offered to the Sree Krishna temple by V. Unnikrishnan of Karivannur in 2009. Meanwhile, the Elephant Lovers' Association sought an investigation into the death of the elephant. In a statement the association alleged that there were injuries on the body and inside the mouth of the elephant. The elephant was tranquilised twice during its ‘musth' recently, it added.
