Central Excise (Bangalore) wins title

HYDERABAD: Central Excise (Bangalore) scored a 3-0 win over Central Excise (Chennai) in the hockey final of the 43rd Central Revenue sports meet at the Gachibowli Stadium, here on Friday.

Winger Madhavan netted a brace in the first half and in the second session, Ekambaram completed the tally. Madhavan was named the Player of the Match.

Mr. Viswanathan, Deputy Commissioner, gave away the prizes.

Netball selections

The Andhra Pradesh Netball Association will conduct trials for men and women to select the State teams for the 34th National Games to be held in Jharkhand from February. The trials will be held on January 23 at the Little Flower Junior College, Uppal, from 10 a.m..

Chess tournament

The Andhra Pradesh Chess Association will organise an inter-School tournament at the Caedman Chess Academy on January 24. Competitions will be held in under-eight, 10, 12 and 14 years categories.
