RAMANATHAPURAM: B.K. Rajagopalan, General Manager, Tata Consultancy Engineering, has urged the younger generation to search for jobs in India so as to contribute to the nation for attaining self sufficiency in all aspects.

Delivering a key-note address at a seminar on developmental challenges in 21st century at Syed Ammal Engineering College here on Saturday, he said though Indians had proved their mettle in innumerable reputed foreign companies, a section of professionals wanted to settle down in the Western countries.

This approach had to be given up in view of immense opportunities.

Though population explosion in the country was a matter of concern, India was in a comfortable situation thanks to its human resources. It had become an invaluable asset of the nation.

It would take the country to an elevated position among the most powerful nations.

Crititising the mindset of the people, who believed that products imported from foreign countries were better, he said they should feel proud that many items produced in India were equally good.

They should give priority in purchasing Indian products.

J. Venkataraman, General Manager, RIPE, Chennai, said industries including information technology were looking for candidates with technical and excellent managerial skills.

Besides excelling in their studies, students should develop managerial skills to control organisations.

Chinnadurai Abdullah, secretary, R. Dhanasekaran, Principal, participated in the function.
