THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Ramesh Chennithala has called for avoiding an open debate on the Makarajyothi, as it involved the faith and belief of crores of people. He said here on Saturday that there were several beliefs connected with Hindu, Christian and Muslim places of worship among devotees. He said issues connected with faith and beliefs were in the normal course not subjected to hair-splitting debates. Even courts did not intervene in rituals and customs connected with religion. He contended that in spite of it, some sections were occasionally making attempts to destroy Sabarimala and nullify its fame and greatness. He described it as highly unfortunate.
