Kolkata: Fire caused severe damage to two jute mills in Hooghly and North 24 Parganas districts on Saturday reducing tonnes of finished products and raw material to ashes. According to the police, the fire in Wellington jute mill at Rishra in Hooghly district broke out on Friday night and was brought under control by seven fire tenders after 11 hours on Saturday. Tenders The other blaze was at Kamarhati in North 24 Parganas on the northern fringes of the city. It took four tenders to extinguish it on Saturday afternoon. The cause of the two fires and the extent of damage are yet to be ascertained. - PTI
