CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has directed Poonamallee police to give protection to a person who had obtained anticipatory bail in a case relating to attempt to murder, on January 24, the date of his wedding. Justice G.M. Akbar Ali passed the order on a petition by M. Raja of Poonamallee and S. Valarmathyan and R. Suresh Kumar. The petitioners stated that there had been a quarrel between them and Gobi leading to assault. On Gobi's complaint, the police registered a case. The three obtained anticipatory bail. The petitioners feared that owing to enmity, the complainant might cause trouble at the wedding venue. Disposing of the petition, Mr. Justice Akbar Ali directed the petitioners to give a representation to the Poonamallee police along with a copy of the court order. On receipt of the representation, the Inspector should consider the same and give adequate protection on January 24.
