Human chain formed to create awareness of National Voters Day

More than 5,000 students participate in the event



Collector C. Rajendran participating in the human chain formed to create awareness of voting in connection with the National Voters Day, in Vellore on Monday.

VELLORE: To create awareness of the importance of exercising voting right, more than 5,000 students formed a human chain starting from the old bus terminus on Monday.

The human chain was organised in connection with the National Voters Day on January 25. It was aimed at creating awareness of the importance of voting and the right to vote for those who have completed 18 years.

The students held placards with messages on the right to vote, avoiding misuse of voting right, respect democracy – vote and my vote-my future.

Students from various schools and colleges took part. Collector C. Rajendran addressed the gathering on the occasion. Deputy Inspector General of Police – Vellore Range H.M. Jayaram, Conservator of Forests, Vellore Circle A.V. Venkatachalam and Vice Chancellor of Thiruvalluvar University A. Jothi Murugan were present. A number of non-governmental organisations also took part in the human chain.
