SCCL CMD unfurls the national flag at Prakasam stadium ‘SCCL has achieved coal production of 40.3 million tonnes' KHAMMAM: The Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) will promote establishment of ancillary units by the local youth of the coal belt for production of spare parts used by the company in coal production, said SCCL Chairman and Managing Director S Narsing Rao. Mr Rao unfurled the national flag as part of the Republic Day celebrations held at Prakasam stadium in Kothagudem on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, he said the company had drawn up a plan to encourage the members of the families of Project Affected Persons (PAPs), retired employees, physically challenged persons and weaker sections to set up ancillary units for manufacturing 27 different spare parts and other components like roof bolts used for different operations in the company. “Thermal power accounts for nearly 81 percent of the total electricity production in the country,” he said and underlined the need for optimum utilisation of the latest technologies in coal mining for meeting the ever increasing demand for coal with a futuristic perspective. Stating that the company has achieved coal production of 40.3 million tonnes against the set target of 51.3 million tonnes in the current financial year so far, he called upon the coal miners and all the employees of the company to work in tandem to meet the production targets before the stipulated timeframe. He further urged them to make the ongoing campaign of “Plastic-free SCCL” a success. SCCL Director (Operations) J.V. Dattatreyulu, Director (E & M) I.V.N. Prasada Rao, Director (P A&W) S. Vivekanand, and others were present. Earlier, the SCCL security personnel and NCC cadets besides Scouts and Guides took part in R-Day march past. Awards were presented to the best coal miners and officers selected from all the 11 areas of the company on the occasion.
