Parade held at INA on Republic Day

Special Correspondent

EZHIMALA: A ceremonial parade was held at the Indian Naval Academy (INA) here as part of the Republic Day celebrations on Wednesday.

INA Commandant Vice- Admiral Anurag G. Thapliyal reviewed the parade in the morning.

Ceremonial guard

A ceremonial guard comprising 50 cadets was paraded along with 10 platoons of cadets and sailors of the INA and INS Zamorin.

The cadets and sailors dressed in the summer ceremonial dress of the Indian Navy were commanded by Commandant A.S. Nanda of the Indian Coast Guard. Vice-Admiral Thapliyal presented commendations of the Chief of the Naval Staff to two sailors of the INA.

Awards

Nine naval personnel, including one officer and four civilian staff of the academy, were presented with commendations and cash awards in recognition of their dedication in the performance of their duties, a press release here said.

Endurance period

Referring to the challenges being faced by people in uniform, the Vice-Admiral said that for them “there is no moment of peace as there is no moment of war and what exists is an endurance period during which one has to be vigilant and responsible.'' He also emphasised the importance of cultivating character among service people.

The parade culminated with the march past of the platoons.
