Tiny tots engage mature audience with aplomb

TIRUCHI: Tiny tots of around just three years of age delivering mature messages pertaining to healthy diet, national treasures, national integration, and environment was a sight to behold at the Community Centre in BHEL Township on Tuesday.

With their variety programmes spanning nearly two hours encapsulating the country's tradition, religious importance, and entertainment of the hip-shaking kind, the children of Bala Vihar succeeded in grabbing the attention of the audience.

That they added glitter in no small measure to the annual day celebrations of the Women's Welfare Association could be determined by the peals of laughter the audience burst into every now and then.

Obviously, the speakers, including the Executive Director A.V. Krishnan and the General Manager – Human Resource P. Nainar, were all praise for the teachers who trained them and the WWA, which also runs a crèche, a tailoring programme for women belonging to below poverty line families, music classes, yoga classes and tuitions for school children in the township. The tailoring programme for BPL women drawn from villages in the township's neighbourhood is being conducted as part of BHEL's Corporate Social Responsibility activities, the WWA Secretary Usha Ramachandran said in her annual report.

Appeal

Mr. Krishnan thanked his predecessors for putting in place the facilities in the township and appealed to the residents to make it a model through maintenance of greenery, cleanliness and safety.

Mr. Nainar expressed BHEL's commitment to restore greenery in the Silver Jubilee Park and make the township an enjoyable place to live in for children. The facilities at the disposal of WWA would be further enhanced keeping in view the new recruitments being made in thousands, said Mr. Nainar, who is also the president of the BHEL Educational Society.

Mr. Krishnan presented prizes for winners of various competitions conducted by WWA to mark its 39 {+t} {+h} anniversary. The WWA Patron Rajam Krishnan and Association president Usha Ramachandran also took part.
