Dubs prevention of flag hoisting in J&K ‘anti-national'

BJP leader says arrest of LS and RS members on the eve of R-Day reminded the ‘emergency days'

‘Congress trying to destabilise State governments headed by Opposition parties'

HYDERABAD: Criticising the Centre and the Jammu and Kashmir government for preventing the hoisting of tricolour at Srinagar, senior BJP leader and MP M. Venkaiah Naidu described the obstacles created as “anti-national” steps.

The arrest of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members on the eve of Republic Day reminded “emergency days”, he said. Mr. Naidu who hoisted the tricolour at the party headquarters here on Wednesday termed “shameful” the arrest of BJP leaders by the Central and State governments which failed to tackle terrorism, infiltration and other issues facing J&K.

The arrest of the Opposition leaders by the governments which could not prevent pro-Pakistan activities in the valley would not send proper signals and such measures would strengthen the resolve of separatists. Attributing the trouble in the valley to “absence of foresight of successive Congress governments”, he said scrapping Article 370 was the permanent solution to the issue.

On the other issues, he alleged that the Congress was trying to destabilise the governments headed by Opposition parties using the CBI, Income Tax and the institution of the Governor. Corruption became all pervading during the Congress regime and this called for launching another struggle, akin to freedom struggle, against corruption. “Days are not far when the Congress party will pay a heavy price for its wrong policies,” he said.

BJP State president G. Kishan Reddy and senior leaders Bandaru Dattatreya and Ch. Vidyasagar Rao were, among others, present.
