Governor hosts ‘At Home'

Documentary showing India's tumultuous journey to freedom screened



VIPs:Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan and wife Vimala greeting industrialist G.V.K. Reddy and his wife at the ‘At Home' hosted on the occasion of Republic Day at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday.

HYDERABAD: A host of political dignitaries, freedom fighters and senior civil servants attended an ‘At Home' hosted by Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan and his wife Vimala on Republic Day on Wednesday.

In a departure from the past, a documentary showing India's tumultuous journey to freedom in 1947 was screened for the benefit of the select gathering on the lawns of the tastefully decorated Raj Bhavan. Police bands played light music.

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, who arrived 15 minutes behind schedule, former Chief Ministers K. Rosaiah, Nadendla Bhaskara Rao, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president D. Srinivas, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Bandaru Dattatreya, Legislative Council Chairman A. Chakrapani, Deputy Speaker Nadendla Manohar, Padma awardees Akkineni Nageswara Rao and G.V.K. Reddy besides film producer D. Rama Naidu, were among those present at the function.
