Children's agricultural congress concludes

All green: Exhibits at the Children's Agricultural Science Congress that concluded in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: SN Upper Primary School, Kollayil, bagged the overall trophy at the second Children's Agricultural Science Congress that concluded here on Saturday. The school won the award for the ‘children farm village' and ‘Krishi Sena' projects.

The team from Mannam Memorial Residential English Medium Higher Secondary School won the best research team award for their project on soil quality and research study exhibition.

Students of Thevanpara Kristhukiran School won the award for the best school-level farming initiative for their ‘Cheeragramom' project.

In the individual category, Shilpa Shashankan of Christ Nagar English Medium School won the first prize for best research paper presentation.

V.R. Vijitha of PKM HS bagged the first prize in ‘Ente Krishi' section for her presentation on cabbage and cauliflower cultivation. Deepthi of Vazhakadu VHS, Wayanad, won the first prize in ‘Karshaka Shasthram' category.

Mayor K. Chandrika and former Agriculture Department director R. Heli gave away prizes to the winners at the concluding ceremony of the event jointly organised by Agri Friends Krishi Samskarika Vedi, Centre for Innovation in Science and Social Action (CISSA) and Indian Agricultural Association. Model farmers Ulloor Raveendran, Manoharan Nair and Thevanpara Santhosh were also felicitated at the function.

Around 300 students participated in the two-day event. The focal theme of the event was organic farming.

The main theme of the third Children's Agricultural Science Congress, ‘Nammude Krishi' (Our farming), was also announced at the concluding function on Saturday.
