Street vendors' demand

Kochi: The joint action committee of various unions of street vendors has demanded implementation of the Central government policy on the street vendors in the State.

At a press conference, leaders of the committee T.B. Mini, E.M. Sunil Kumar said that the corporation was bound to implement the resolution passed by the Kochi Corporation on rehabilitation of street vendors.

The street vendors' rights should be recognised in urban development schemes and projects. They should not be evicted from the footpath margins. They said the committee will take out a march to the Kochi Corporation office on February 1 to press its various demands.
