Bangalore: Spreading tenpin bowling among the youth and strengthening the nascent sport's structure is the top priority with Karti P. Chidambaram. The president of the Tenpin Bowling Federation-India (TBF), who chaired the Annual General Body Meeting here on Saturday, said that he is focussing on the three Ts — Travel, Training, and Tournaments — so that the Indian bowling contingent gains the necessary exposure to compete at the global level. Besides nurturing the limited talent that is largely restricted to Chennai, Bangalore and Delhi, the TBF also decided to retain National coach Allan Chia and finalised the calendar of events that has three National Championships and many overseas tours as the prime attractions. “Allan will work with the federation and will help us broad-base the game. As far as the men are concerned, they are all doing well in the practice sessions though in competition, they tend to tighten up under pressure. Chidambaram thanked Aircel for its sponsorship of National events and said that the sport needs many more sponsors. “We need a younger talent base. In Malaysia, 12-year olds are groomed,” Allan said while the TBF secretary R. Kannan added that more State associations need to buck up and do their bit for promoting tenpin bowling. The schedule of National Championships: Team championship: Gurgaon (March 6 to 12); Junior championship: Bangalore (June 15 to 19); National championships (Sept. 18 to 26, venue yet to be decided) .
