‘Political power being misused'
Staff Correspondent
Chitradurga: In a veiled attack on Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah said on Saturday that those who were in power should not indulge in corruption and nepotism
“In his entire term as Chief Minister, the late S. Nijalingappa did not misuse his powers to help his friends and relatives” he said.
Speaking at a function to dedicate the S. Nijalingappa Memorial to the people near Seebar village in Chitradurga taluk, he said the principles of Nijalingappa appeared more relevant now because political power was being misused to help family members.
Union Minister for Labour and Employment M. Mallikarjun Kharge spoke.
Earlier, Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa promised all possible help to the Tibetans living in Bylakuppe, Kollegal, Mundgod and other parts of the State. In response to a request made by the trustees, Mr. Yeddyurappa directed Deputy Commissioner Amlan Aditya Biswas to immediately stop quarrying activities near the memorial.
