Loyola College wins Jamal Mohamed Trophy

Loyola and Jamal Mohammed secured five points each
Loyola was adjudged winner on better goal difference

TIRUCHI: Loyola College won the Jamal Mohamed Trophy in the State-level inter-collegiate football tournament here on Saturday. Loyola and host Jamal Mohammed College secured five points each at the end of the semifinal league. But the former was adjudged winner on better goal difference. JJ CET finished third with four points.

The results: Semifinal league: Jamal Mohamed 0 drew with PSG CAS 0; Loyola 1 (Ranjith) drew with JJ CET 1 (Stegin); Jamal Mohamed 2 (Mohammed Fateen, Prakash) bt JJ CET 0; Loyola 4 (Sathish, Ranjith, Charles, Lokesh) bt PSG 0 .

VCE, TCE in final

Vickram CE and TCE entered the final of the Shri Vanchinatha Dikshithar memorial State-level inter-engineering colleges' cricket tournament, organised by Sudharsan EC, in Pudukottai on Saturday.

The scores: Semifinals: Sudharsan EC 124 for eight in 25 overs (Jaffer 30) lost to TCE 125 for eight in 24.4 overs (Rajkumar 38). Vickram CE 160 for five in 25 overs (Anwar 71, Pichaipandi 30) bt MNSK 93 in 24.2 overs (Ibrahim four for 25, Praise Joseph three for 15) .

St. Peter's posts win

St. Peter's HSS defeated Konoor Government HSS by five wickets in a quarterfinal encounter of the NPR Trophy inter-school cricket tournament at Natham (Dindigul district) on Saturday.

The scores: Quarterfinals: Konoor Government HSS 119 in 15 overs (Saravanan 55, Ramana four for 27, Vivek three for 18) lost to St. Peter's HSS 120 for five in 19 overs (Vicky 47, Wasim 27).

American College HSS 147 for five in 20 overs (Elavazhagan 41, Manikandan 40, Silambu three for 24) bt Durai Kamalam Government HSS 56 in 12 overs (Manikandan five for eight).

First round: Christian MHSS 136 for five in 20 overs (Muzhamil 74) lost to Durai Kamalam Government HSS 137 for three in 16.1 overs (Deepan 45) .

VOC thrashes TRC ‘B'

VOC XI thrashed TRC ‘B' by 268 runs in the TNCA–Tuticorin DCA ‘C' division cricket league.

The scores: A div.: Kayal Sporting Club 172 for eight in 40 overs (Riyas Khan 33, Hameed 31, Jackson three for 45) lost to Power CC 173 for nine in 35.4 overs (Ashok 45, Meganathan 32, Shankar 34, Kassali four for 43).

Classic CC 170 in 37.4 overs (Subramaniam 50, Riyaz 27, Rajasekar three for 25) lost to Analmin Nagar CC 174 for six in 27.4 overs (Krishnan 72, Magesh 28, Ganesh 28).

B div.: Young Star CC 169 in 29.5 overs (Baskar 59 , Reagan four for 41, Blestin four for 21) bt Youth CC 162 in 31.3 overs (Santhanaraj five for 29, Arumugam four for 31).
