Woman found dead case solved; accused ends life

MADURAI: The case of a woman, aged about 30 years, found dead in a hotel room in the city a few days ago had been solved, the police said on Sunday.

Following a complaint that a foul smell emanated from a locked room in a hotel in North Veli Street, the police broke open and found the body of a woman with multiple injuries. Initial probe suggested that the name furnished with the hotel receptionist was false. The mobile number given too had only nine digits. Under such circumstances, a clue from the security personnel about the vehicle in which the guests arrived led the police to rush to Palakkad, Kerala. The team was informed by the Kerala police that they had registered a case of woman missing based on a complaint from her relatives. Even as the investigation was under way, the special team was informed by Kerala police that the accused had ended his life.

Commissioner of Police P. Balasubramanian said the woman from Kerala is suspected to have had an illicit relationship with a man and had come here by a hired car.
