Naidu pacifies party leader

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N. Chandrababu Naidu has succeeded in convincing party leader from Kadapa S.V. Satish Kumar Reddy to remain in the party.

Mr. Naidu who held discussions with Mr. Reddy at his residence on Sunday was reported to have told him that he would be fielded as a candidate in coming elections to the legislative council.

The development comes in the light of the reports that Mr. Satish Reddy was planning to join the Congress and was in parleys with Minister Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy in this regard.

TDP sources said that Mr. Satish Reddy, who unsuccessfully contested against the former Chief Minister, late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, was sulking over the party leadership for some time now for not giving due recognition to his services and in keeping the party flag flying in Pulivendula. The untimely death of his rival YSR and the exit of former Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy from the Congress had triggered speculation that Mr. Satish Reddy would not mind joining the Congress.

Meanwhile, TD legislature party deputy leader G. Muddukrishnama Naidu demanded that Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy give a clarification on the remarks made by Minister P. Shankar Rao over the presence of corrupt Ministers in his Cabinet.
