Need for awareness about welfare schemes stressed SHGs were distributed loans of Rs. 14 crores TENALI: Assembly Deputy Speaker Nadendla Manohar has said that the government is committed to extend the benefits of welfare schemes to every eligible individual with due focus on development of women and children. He has also called upon people to know about various schemes under implementation to get benefits. Speaking at a meeting organised as part of Rachabanda programme at Balajiraopet here on Monday, Mr. Manohar exhorted women to enrol themselves under ‘YSR Abhaya Hastam' scheme under which monthly pension ranging from Rs. 500 to Rs. 3,000 would be given. Their children could avail themselves of scholarships given by the government. A sum of Rs. 14 crores was distributed as loans to members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in the municipal limits. The SHGs could get bank linkage upto Rs. 5 lakhs. Steps would be taken for allotment of house sites to the poor in the municipality and payments due to the beneficiaries of Indiramma housing scheme were being cleared. Sanctions for new constructions were also being given. The municipality has more than 17,000 ration card holders, Mr. Manohar said and added that sincere efforts were being made to achieve all-round development. Tenali Assembly constituency special officer P. Chinapothuraju, Municipal Commissioner S. Venkata Krishnaiah, MRO Ch. Lakshmi Prameela and others were present.
