Meet on banking innovation

KANNUR: A conference on ‘Innovation and inclusion in banking: issues, strategies and options' would be organised by the Kannur University School of Development Studies on February 3 and 4. Conference director K. Gangadharan said at a press meet here on Monday that the conference would be inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Home Mullappally Ramachandran. Harsha Aturupane, lead economist, World Bank's Human Development Unit in Colombo, will attend. Innovations in modern banking, structural changes, nationalisation of banks, financial sector reforms, liberalisation and globalisation and micro-finance for financial inclusion would be discussed, Dr. Gangadhgaran said.
The conference is sponsored by the Nabard, Indian Council of Social Science Research and the University Grants Commission.
