Baig HS advances

VIJAYAWADA: M.K. Baig High School registered a one-wicket win over Vivekananda High School in the Krishna District Cricket Association inter-school league tournament here.

The scores: Kennedy HS 270 in 30 overs (Harsha 71, Karthik 65) bt KDCA Combined Girls Schools 65 in 22 overs.

Sidhartha EMS 237 for nine in 30 overs (T. Siva Kumar 71, Naveen three for 28) bt Sarada HS 23 in 6.1 overs (T. Siva Kumar seven for eight).

Vivekananda HS 83 in 14.2 overs (Chinna eight for 18) lost to M.K. Baig HS 84 for nine in 10.1 overs (Santhi Swaroop six for 36).

Nirmala HS (MTM) 105 in eight in 30 overs (Chaitanya 46) bt Vidwan HS 72 in 19 overs (Chaitanya five for six, Mani Kumar three for three).

M.K. Gandhi Concept School 92 in 18.5 overs (Lakshmikanth 30, Samuel three for 12, Adiya three for 24) lost Sri Chaitanya 93 for one in 9.4 overs (Prakash 33 n.o.).

Vatekar to lead

H. Vatekar will lead the Andhra Ranji one-day team in the South Zone limited overs tournament for the K.S. Subbaiah Pillai Trophy from February 10 to 18.

VCC posts win

Victoria CC defeated BNR CC by 21 runs while NGCC beat Gandhi CC by 71 runs in the Guntur District Cricket Association T20 league tournament at Guntur on Wednesday.

The scores: VCC 104 for eight in 20 overs (Pratap 32, Raja Rao three for eight) bt BNRCC 83 for nine in 20 overs.

NGCC 166 for three in 20 overs (Ranta Babu 30, Narayana three for 22) bt Gandhi CC 95 for seven in 20 overs.

Satish, Srikanth hit tons

D. Satish (114 not out, 16x4, 1x6) and K.V. Srikanth (101, 17x4) added 200 for the fourth wicket in County CC's 120-run win over Vizag Colts in the VDCA first division clubs league a the Ukku stadium in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday.

The scores: County CC 268 for five in 50 overs (D. Satish 114 n.o., K.V. Srikanth 101) bt Vizag Colts 148 in 34 overs (Gaurav Bajaj 47, Dinesh three for 33, Ghulam Farooq three for 55) .

Chess tournament

Mother Chess Academy, Visakhapatnam, is hosting a district open tournament at the Swarna Bharati indoor stadium on February 5 and 6.

Cash prizes will be awarded to top 10 players in the open category and winners of the boys' and girls' under-8, 10, 12 and 15.
