Bandh against VAT

RANCHI: To protest against imposition of Value Added Tax on motor parts, blankets, towels and other items of daily use, the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries called a State-wide bandh on Friday.

“The State government has recently increased the tax on several items which are cheaper in the neighbouring states. This can affect the revenue collection of the State government,” said Federation vice-president Pratul Shahdeo.

“To oppose VAT, we closed our establishments across the State on Friday,” he added.
