ADILABAD: The Adivasi Hakkula Porata Samiti or Tudum Debba on Friday wanted the government to bar Lambadas from either seeking employment or contesting elections as members of Scheduled Tribes. The organisation reiterated that migrant Banjaras claiming ST status based on bogus certificates were destroying chances of primitive tribes in employment and in representation of people. Circulating copies of extracts from AP Gazette, 1978, Tudum Debba honorary president and former Boath MLA Soyam Bapu Rao and district president Uike Sanjiv said Lambadas were included in the ST list in 1976 only to seek reservation in education. The GO 1793 was amended as GO 878 on December 15, 1977 to give them reservation in education only, they pointed out.
