Sandeep Unnikrishnan's uncle critical

Devesh K. Pandey

NEW DELHI: The condition of K. Mohanan, uncle of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan who laid down his life fighting terrorists during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks in 2008, is said to be critical.

Mr. Mohanan (56), who hails from Kozhikode, Kerala, set himself afire near Parliament House on Thursday evening. He was admitted to the Lohia Hospital. His brother K. Unnikrishnan, Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan's father, visited him in the hospital on Friday evening. Mr. Unnikrishnan said the family had no grievances and that he was happy with the way the government had treated his son. “Mohanan was very fond of Sandeep. We thought that he had overcome the grief, but he ended up doing this,” he said.

Notes written in Malayalam in a book that was found with Mr. Mohanan's express his frustration over the delay in awarding the death sentence to Kasab, the lone surviving terrorist involved in the attacks.
