‘Eschew lust for political power'
Special Correspondent
Bangalore: Referring to the state of politics as a tragedy for the State and farcical entertainment for others, president of the 77th Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelan G. Venkatasubbaiah, amid thunderous applause, said: “The Indian Constitution has earned the distinction of being a Rajya (political) Dharma Shastra. Jettisoning it, political parties are vying with one another in their lust for power.
As a result, the State has earned the distinction of being the most corrupt State in the country. “The attitude of some legislators is devoid of dignity and decorum. People are disturbed. They have been blaming themselves for having elected such legislators and chosen political parties. It is a paradox that the so-called saviours of the people are themselves indulging in such fights. Let good sense prevail on our political parties and let them work for the development of the land by shunning their lust for power.”
