GULBARGA: Union Labour and Employment Minister M. Mallikarjun Kharge has said that the UPA Government at the Centre is stable and there is no political crisis due to the controversy over the allocation of 2G spectrum and appointment of the Central Vigilance Commissioner. Mr. Kharge told presspersons in Gulbarga on Saturday that the there was no basis to the talk of mid-term elections to the Lok Sabha and said that the UPA Government was strong and would complete its term. Mr. Kharge said, “The UPA Government's stand on 2G spectrum allocation issue is clear. It is for a full-fledged discussion in Parliament. If Parliament decides on a Joint Parliament Committee (JPC) probe, it will abide by the decision.” He alleged that it was the Opposition parties that were not allowing a discussion on the 2G spectrum issue. Asked about the statement of Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa that there was a threat to his life because of black magic allegedly performed by leaders of the Opposition parties, Mr. Kharge said that Mr. Yeddyurappa had no right to continue in the office after making such irresponsible statements. Mr. Kharge said that it was strange that a person holding the post of the Chief Minister had made such irresponsible statements. “If the Chief Minister is uncertain about his life, how can he protect the lives and properties of the people of the State,” he asked.
