Courses to train workers
Staff Reporter
Tirupur: The Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC), under the Union Ministry of Textiles, has commenced the registration for the diploma and certificate courses planned at its Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC) here.
The courses in knitwear fashion designing and manufacturing are conceptualised under the community college scheme, which the ATDC had launched in association with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).
“Our aim is to produce skilled workforce for meeting the human resource requirements in the apparel manufacturing clusters like Tirupur,” R. Nagarajan, prinicipal, ATDC-IGNOU community college, told reporters.
Mr. Nagarajan said that people who had passed Plus-Two could apply for year-long diploma courses in fashion design technology, apparel pattern making computer-aided design, apparel quality assurance and compliance and knitwear manufacturing technology. This apart, certificate courses in apparel pattern making and production supervision of six-months in duration were offered for those who had completed SSLC. For details, contact Ravindran.
