RDO enquiry ordered into woman's death

Staff Reporter

TIRUPATTUR: The Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) is conducting an enquiry into the death of a 20-year-old married woman, who had allegedly consumed poison on Monday.

According to police, Arputham (40), a resident of Karuperi, Vallipattu post in Pochampalli taluk had lodged a complaint with the Kandhili police following the death of her daughter Maadhu, who was married to Sankar one-and-a-half years ago.

Police said Sankar, a resident of Mangkuppam, Kandhili police station limit, was working as a mason and went home only once a week. In his absence, his parents Rajendran and Jayalakshmi allegedly ill-treated Maadhu and also assaulted her.

On Monday, Maadhu had consumed poison and was rushed to the Government Hospital at Tirupattur where she died. A case was registered at the Kandhili police station.

Following this, the RDO will conduct an enquiry in the case, police added.
