THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State government has decided to leave to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) the inquiry into the suspicious deaths of the Palakkad-based Malabar Cements Limited's former company secretary Sasheendran and his two children on January 31. Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan told the Assembly in reply to a submission by M. Chandran (CPI-M) that the investigation would be left to the CBI in view of the issues and controversies arising from the three deaths under mysterious circumstances. The Palakkad police had registered a case for unnatural death against Malabar Cements Limited managing director M. Sundaramurthy, executive secretary P. Suryanarayanan and contractor V.M. Radhakrishnan on the basis of a complaint filed by Sasheendran's wife Teena, the Home Minister said. Earlier, Mr. Chandran sought immediate removal of the company officials from their posts besides ensuring a serious investigation into the suspicious deaths. The Home Minister said the police had taken evidence from 95 witnesses in connection with the deaths and that Sasheendran's wife had told the police that Sasheendran was forced to resign as company secretary following pressure from top company officials. She had also told the police that Mr. Radhakrishnan had threatened him twice over phone that he and his family would have to commit suicide. The police had taken the services of forensic experts and fingerprint bureau personnel as part of their investigation so far and prepared a First Information Report (FIR) on the basis of their findings, the Home Minister said.
