HYDERABAD: Senior TDP MLA from Palakurthi, Erabelli Dayakar Rao, is believed to be toying with the idea of resigning as legislator and seeking re-election as part of his efforts to send a strong message to his constituents that he favoured separate Telangana. Mr. Rao has been holding a series of meetings with his confidantes, supporters and party workers during the last few days to discuss the issue, but is yet to take a final decision. What triggered speculation on Monday was an informal interaction with few TV channels where he reportedly broached the subject. He reportedly conveyed to them that he was prepared for any sacrifice including resignation for the sake of separate Statehood, if there was unanimity in his constituency. He planned to take such a step after the budget session of the Parliament as by then, the Centre would have conveyed its decision on Telangana. But even as he mulled resignation and even contesting as Independent, a section of TDP feels Mr. Rao may be merely floating such an idea to convey his “strong feelings” for Telangana.
