NEW DELHI: Within 24 hours of merging Praja Rajyam (PR) with the Congress and taking a new avatar of a Congress functionary actor-politician Chiranjeevi on Monday went hammer and tongs at Telugu Desam (TDP) president N. Chandrababu Naidu stating that he was “feeling insecure and having fear psychosis of losing future elections” as the two large forces had come together. There was nothing wrong in the fears expressed by Mr. Naidu as the Congress' strength had been increased due to his entry, he told journalists here while reacting to the attacks made by TDP on him for his latest move. Reacting to senior BJP leader M. Venkiah Naidu's comment that he had boarded a sinking ship (meaning Congress), Mr. Chiranjeevi said the former had no right to criticise him as the BJP had no stake in Andhra Pradesh. It was not for him to reply to the party like BJP which had been craving to have alliance with one party or the other during polls. Earlier, he met Union Ministers and senior Congress leaders Pranab Mukherjee and S. Jaipal Reddy here. He indicated that a big function would be held in Andhra Pradesh soon to formalise Congress-PR merger. Sources said Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi are likely to attend the programme. Mr. Chiranjeevi said the PR legislature party would meet on Tuesday in Hyderabad followed by party's State executive meeting on Wednesday to ratify the merger.
