Andhra girls, TN boys triumph

KOLKATA: Andhra Pradesh claimed its maiden title in the junior girls' category downing defending champion Maharashtra ‘A' in a keenly contested final of the 72 {+n} {+d} junior and youth national and inter-state table tennis being held at Ahmedabad.

The results (team finals): Youth boys: Tamil Nadu bt Railways 3-1 (G. Sathiyan bt Martand Biniwale 11-9, 11-3, 11-3; T. Nitin lost to Harmeet Desai 11-7, 8-11, 10-12, 9-11; R. Venkataramanan bt Saidul Ahmed 11-6, 11-5, 11-5; Sathiyan bt Harmeet 14-16, 11-4, 11-4, 11-9) Juniors: Petroleum ‘A' bt Karnataka 3-0 (Sudhanshu Grover bt Akshay Mahuntha 12-10, 13-11, 11-9; Abhishek Yadav bt Shreyal Telang 11-9, 11-5, 6-11, 11-1; Sudhanshu & Abishek bt Akshay & Shreyal 8-11, 9-11, 11-3, 14-12,11-7).
