KALPETTA: District Collector V. Ratheesan has said that procedures are on to provide land to nearly 2,000 landless tribal families in the district at the Aralam tribal resettlement project in Kannur district. Mr. Ratheesan said after the people's committee for selecting the beneficiaries of the Aralam resettlement project in the district on Wednesday that as many as 2,000 tribal families in the district would get land under the project and 800 acres of land under the project had been reserved for them. The landless tribal families who were willing to relocate to Aralam would get the land under the project, he said. When applications were called for the project a few months ago through village offices, the response was not positive. Hence, the district administration had decided to provide one more chance to the tribal families. They should submit their applications by February 19 through the Tribal Welfare Offices concerned. The committee selected 163 tribal families for the project.
