The mega project will provide jobs to about 2000 people

NELLORE: Hindustan National Glass and Industries Limited (HNG), India's largest glass container manufacturing company, has performed ground-breaking ceremony for construction of a glass plant at Menakur village, near Naidupeta in Nellore district on Thursday.

The mega Greenfield glass manufacturing complex which is coming up in about 210 acres, is expected to generate employment for about 2,000 people. The new industry will serve the market demands to US, Middle East, South East Asia and Europe.

HNG chairman C.K. Somany, vice-chairman and managing directors Sanjay Somany and Mukul Somany, director Bharat Somany and other company officials performed ‘bhoomi puja' and launched the construction works at Menakur Industrial Park in the district on Thursday.

Speaking at a press conference later, the chairman said HNG will invest about Rs. 4,000 crore on the project in the coming years and the first unit would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 700 crore.

The construction work of the first unit would be completed by the end of this year and production will be started by March next year, he said.

Mr. Mukul Somany said the HNG management has strategically decided to establish the new project at Naidupeta of Andhra Pradesh, which is clost to Ennore and Krishnapatnam Ports, to consolidate its foothold in South India.
