Expo would provide an opportunity for the visitors to taste different types of food from various regions CHENNAI: ‘Food Expo', a five-day food festival conducted by the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) at the Island Grounds as part of the ongoing 37 {+t} {+h} India Tourist and Industrial Fair 2011 will commence here on Saturday. Chettinad Food Festival will be held on the first day of Expo followed by Gramathu Virundhu on Sunday. The theme for the Valentine's Day is ‘Couple Candle Light Dinner'. The next two days will witness conduct of Fruit Festival and Sea Food Festival. Talking to reporters, TTDC Managing Director A.C. Mohandoss said that the expo would provide an opportunity for the visitors to taste different types of authentic foods from different regions at affordable rates. About 20 stalls are being erected for this purpose and food would be served from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. On Sunday and Wednesday, the counter will open at noon. The Social Welfare Department will conduct food demonstration-cum-competition for women in its stall on Saturday at 3.30 p.m. “In the last 49 days, about 11 lakh people have visited the fair. In the coming days, we will hold dance and singing competition and fashion show for the public. On the last day, we will distribute bumper prize that includes TVS Apache, TVS Scooty Pep and other prices,” Mr. Mohandoss said.
