200 domestic violence cases registered

KOCHI: Nearly 200 Domestic Incident Reports cases have been filed under the Domestic Violence (Prevention) Act in 2010-11 through the service centres set up by the State Social Welfare Board, said Girija Surendran, chairperson of the Board. She was inaugurating a one-day workshop for voluntary and social organisations on the Act at Santhwana Counselling Centre here on Thursday. There are eight service centres in the district out of the 79 established across the State. Each centre settles between 200 and 300 cases of domestic violence on an average, she said. S. Radhakrishnan Nair, secretary, Social Welfare Board; Vasanthakumari, Assistant Social Welfare Officer spoke.
