NEW DELHI: Jawaharlal Nehru University here has expelled two boy students and rusticated another for their involvement in the controversial “sex tape” which has been doing the rounds of the campus for more than half a year now. A copy of the university's probe report and a complaint has been forwarded to the Delhi Police. The expulsion and rustication were part of the recommendations of the Proctorial inquiry conducted by Chief Proctor H. B. Bohidar into the making and production of the tape containing graphic scenes involving a boy and girl which was shot last year in April in one of the JNU hostels. While one of the expelled boys figured in the tape, the other has been held responsible for duplication of its contents. The third boy has been rusticated for making his room available for use by the girl and the boy. However, he was reportedly unaware of the filming of the video. The girl in question too did not appear to be aware of being filmed. The three boys were issued show-cause notices earlier this week. “We were not satisfied by the response given by the boys to the show-cause,” said Prof. Bohidar. No whereabouts However, the boy who featured in the video has reportedly not responded to the show-cause notice yet. The JNU authorities did not seem aware of his whereabouts. “As is the practice,” said Prof. Bohidar, “we have handed the orders to the senior wardens of the respective hostels the boys belong to. In case the person is not found, the notice is simply pasted on the door of the student's room.” Meanwhile, the university's Gender Sensitisation Committee Against Sexual Harassment is planning to hold a public meeting in which the issue of declining gender sensitivity on the campus is to be addressed by former Committee chairpersons and others. Speaking about insensitive coverage of the scandal by some sections of the media, Committee chairperson Meenakshi Sundriyal said: “The initial splashing of photographs related to the incident by some sections of the media was insensitive. The public meeting will generally address the broader issue of gender sensitivity and how to maintain it under the specific conditions of the campus.”
