Former Central Vigilance Commissioner P. Shankar, with MIOT Hospitals Managing Director P.V.A. Mohandas and Chairman Mallika Mohandas, at the hospital's founder's day function in Chennai on Saturday. CHENNAI: Doctors face challenges such as keeping abreast of medical advances, escalating cost of treatment, and increasing awareness and knowledge of patients and their demand for more, P.V.A. Mohandas, Managing Director of MIOT Hospitals, said here on Saturday. Speaking at the 12th founder's day of the hospital, he said the hospital continued to provide treatment on a par with international standards despite the odds. “To be a doctor is a great calling. Medicine is not a trade. Doctors cannot measure success in terms of money,” he added. Vision His vision for MIOT Hospitals, he said, is “not to double or triple its income but the service the hospital provides its patients.” Former Central Vigilance Commissioner P. Shankar said founder's day was an opportunity for the hospital and its staff to recall the mission and vision of the organisation and carry forward the message. It was an opportunity to rededicate themselves to the task for which the institution was founded, he said. On the occasion doctors, nurses and other hospital staff were presented certificates and mementos for their service to patients.
