VELLORE: K. Geetha, assistant professor in chemistry, Postgraduate & Research Department of Chemistry, Muthurangam Government Arts College, Vellore, has been given the Best Teacher Award by the Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI) for her contributions to chemistry education, at the 13th CRSI National Symposium in Chemistry held at the National Institute of Science Education and Research, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology in Bhubaneswar recently. Ms. Geetha was also the recipient of the Tamil Nadu Young Woman Scientist Award conferred by the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology in 2003. She has guided 20 M.Phil. students, and is currently guiding two M.Phil. students and six Ph.D. students. She has undertaken two projects, namely the Science and Technology Project, ‘Synthesis and Characterisation of Hydrazones and its Complexes' for two years, and the Department of Science and Technology Fast Track Project, ‘Green Synthesis and Structure of Different Nuclearity of Copper (II) Complexes with Schiff Bases' for three years.
