Complex hip surgery done

MADURAI: A complex hip surgery was successfully performed on February 11 at Preethi Hospital in Madurai on a 44-year-old woman with a broken hip.

The joint replacement surgery was performed recently by R.Shivakumar, Consultant Orthopaedic and Spine Surgeon of Preethi Hospital, along with Luca Marega of Italy who is a global expert in advanced joint replacements, according to a press release here. The woman, who underwent this surgery had met with an accident two years back and since then had undergone three surgeries. “This case was highly complex because the surgeons had to deal with multiple bone fragments,” Dr. Shivakumar said in his media briefing. This patient will now have a long-lasting solution and can go back to normal life.
