NEW DELHI: With a view to boost its popularity among its existing patrons as well as attract more new readers, one of the oldest public libraries located in the Walled City of Delhi has got a sleek makeover, getting newly renovated air-conditioned reading rooms. The renovation was undertaken by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi with the help of the Institute of Chartered Accounts of India. Under this, the library has now got modern facilities including computers on ground floor and first floor of the building. Municipal councillor and honorary secretary of the Hardayal Municipal Library Yashpal Arya said: “The ICAI had offered to develop the new facilities to create a conducive environment for students who are pursuing their chartered accountancy course. However, the renovated reading rooms would prove to be a boon for all visitors.” The library set up in 1862 as the Lawrence Institute Library is funded by the MCD but run by an independent management committee.
