Five injured in accident

Kanhangad: Five persons, including a 15-year-old boy, were injured when a mini-lorry hit a motorbike, an autorickshaw and a roadside tree and overturned at Chettukundu, near here, on the Kanhangad-Kasaragod State Highway on Monday.

The police said the mini-lorry, carrying chickens, hit the motorbike moving along the left side and collided head-on with the three-wheeler. The boy, who was going to school, was seriously injured and was rushed to a hospital in Mangalore. Others were being treated in nearby hospitals. Speeding of the mini-lorry led to the accident, the police added. The injured include its driver, the motorbike rider and those travelling in the autorickshaw.
