Call to expedite spending

MALAPPURAM: District Collector P.M. Francis has called upon the heads of local bodies to expedite the implementation of Plan projects in the district. Reminding them that the local bodies could so far spend only 38 per cent of the Plan funds, the Collector urged the presidents of three-tier panchayats and the chairpersons of municipalities to complete the Plan projects in a time-bound manner.

He was presiding over a review meeting of Plan projects here on Monday. District panchayat president Zuhara Mampad said the district panchayat had spent 38 per cent of the funds and moves were made to expend the remaining funds within this financial year. District Panchayat vice-president P.K. Kunhu participated.
