VISAKHAPATNAM: Academic culture is the basis of excellence and the universities must practice this with a holistic approach, former Director of NAAC V.S. Prasad said at a meeting with faculty organised at the GITAM University on Monday. Effective governance, good faculty and infrastructure were the key factors for a university to grow internationally, Prof. Prasad, who is also a former Vice -Chancellor of IGNOU, said. Professional imperative and competitive and accountability imperatives were the deciding factors of internal quality in higher educational institutions, he said quoting the Kothari Commission's observations. Research activities Sustainability of best practices was also important to maintain the excellence and student satisfaction was the end point to decide the best practice. V-C G. Subramanyam briefed about the university growth and teaching and research activities. Pro Vice-Chancellor D. Harinarayana also spoke. AU expo extended Andhra University has extended by another day its Academic Exhibition, following overwhelming response from the public and industries, Registrar P.V.G.D. Prasada Reddy informed on Monday. The exhibition was originally scheduled from Feb. 12 to 14 and was initially extended by one day. AU extended the exhibition for another day and it would be open till 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Prof. Prasada Reddy added.
